EOTrac is a software tool that uses power plant operating data and service-based wear formulations to provide a technical basis for plant maintenance decisions. It treats components ranging from prime movers through piping down to the smaller pumps and motors. EOTrac helps plant staff answer the following questions:

  • How much service life do I have left on a particular component?
  • If I change my operating patterns, how will my component maintenance / remaining life be affected?
  • When will I need to perform maintenance on a component?
  • What type of inspection / maintenance should I perform next on a component?
    • How much will it cost?
    • What resources will I need?
  • What is the operating and maintenance history of a component?

EOTrac can also be used to automatically alert plant staff to:

  • Component operations outside design limitations
  • Excessive component usage
  • Impending and missed inspections / maintenance

Data Interfaces
Manual entry and via gateways to the plant data historian or DCS.

Data Presentation
Custom web page (HTML) or MS Excel

Data Manipulation
MS Excel and VBA (full source code provided).
Operating data inputs for each component are fed through a component-specific Equivalent Operating Hours (EOH) calculator. The EOH for a component represents “normalized” service over a given time; it accounts for the influence of operating history and parameters (starts, stops, load, temperature, pressure water chemistry etc.) on component wear.

Typical components covered:
Whole plant, including GT*, ST*, Generators, Condensers, Cooling Towers, Piping and Supports, Switchgear, Fans, Motors, Gearboxes, Pumps, HRSG and Conventional Boilers, Casing / Stacks / Dampers, Emissions Equipment etc.

* The EOH formulations from the OEMs are used for the Gas Turbine (GT) and Steam Turbine (ST). Tetra develops the EOH formulations for the remaining components.
