Student Placement
Tetra provides student industrial placements for 4 to 14 months duration. These provide a very good opportunity for the student to apply the theory learnt in the first few years of study to real world engineering problems. In addition, they do this in an international atmosphere with the opportunity for fieldwork and foreign travel.
The placement would suit a mechanical engineering student who is able to fit into a small team of engineering consultants. They must be prepared to live and work in the South of France and to travel for short periods to other countries. They must have good all-round engineering skills with emphasis on the following:
- Solid mechanics
- Materials science
- Engineering dynamics
- Fluid dynamics
- Thermodynamics and heat transfer
- Technical drawing and engineering drawing interpretation
In addition a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel is desirable. Knowledge of a CAD package would also be of interest. Primary tools used at Tetra include Solidworks (CAD), Cosmos (FEA), and MS Excel.
Applications are to be by letter of motivation and CV. All correspondence should be by email (see address below) and should include “Industrial Placement” in the subject. The letter of motivation should clearly state the start dates and duration requested.
The applicant must be a fluent english speaker and must be a european citizen (or have a valid european work permit).
