HRSG Unit The uncertainty in power markets means an uncertain future for many combined cycle plants.

If your unit was designed for primarily baseload or two-shift cycling and now your unit will be operating only periodically, layup procedures and technology have a major impact on preserving HRSG condition. In fact, layup may be the most neglected area of HRSG operations. Significant damage will occur when the HRSG does not have proper layup.

Layup condition not only affects equipment while it is idle, but also has a very significant impact on equipment degradation rate during subsequent operation. Poor layup can result in drastically reduced service life and increased unavailability.

Tetra Engineering offers a HRSG Layup Assessment to evaluate the following:

  1. effectiveness of current procedures provided by the HRSG OEM and water treatment vendor,
  2. changes or improvements recommended to best enhance the reliability of the boiler.
  3. benefits of wet and dry layup approaches as well as special layup chemicals offered by the water treatment vendors,
  4. site specific/vendor design specific problems.

If you are concerned about the condition of your HRSG boiler during layup, contact us for a quote and further information on this service.
